SINOSSI

Pesce Khete

15.11.2019 - 22.02.2020

Sinossi (Bon voyage) by Pesce Khete is a series of paper-based paintings that focus on different stratigraphic cycles, passages traced for a synoptic view of the work in the process. The artist, working in terms of production and systemic painting, has sought to avoid the terms of an artistic "summa" by activating factors of "discard," recovery, and residue. The resulting works are part of an ongoing process of incessant painterly re-writing that has temporarily paused for the exhibition. A progressive and potential instrument of the painterly movement is the preparatory foundation, the grid of sentimental geometries, the hint of the image before its formal structuring. This "dynamic sinopia" is the mental process of the painting laboratory that generates the potential travel spaces of countless unpublished exhibitions.

In the project hosted by COLLI independent art gallery, Pesce Khete "transports" his painterly studio (formerly an auto workshop), whether as a physical space or a mental exploration, to analyze imperceptible factors of art-making, the subtle geometries of context, and the influences of spatial "escapes" that inhabit a studio or a transposed exhibition space. The surface of a drivable floor, the patinas on the walls, the interstices of the masonry become forms and trajectories that settle in the visual habitat and transform into lines, chromatic bands, organic fields, tensions in the drawing production.

An integral part of the project is the artist's book "Painting matter Pesce Khete," edited by Colli independent with Viaindustriae publishing, in a limited edition of 30 copies contained in a screen-printed folder with four tables featuring manual interventions by the artist.
