Riccardo Banfi was born in Milan in 1986. The core theme of Riccardo Banfi's photographic research is centered around club culture and youth subcultures. The works collected on these subjects tell of a symbiosis between the image, its form, and the represented theme. In color or in black and white, the photographs sometimes show signs of more or less explicit impediments in capturing them: cropped bodies, off-center shots, and blurred characters. "I've always had fun," Banfi says, drawing a line of identification between art and life, "when I went dancing. I'm more interested in the experience of community, the energy that is created when people come together." You can perceive from the images this being in the crowd, bodies pressed against bodies, this sharing of a confined space, an area that becomes narrower and conditions the execution of the shot: where it loses in formal perfection, it gains in capturing an atmosphere.
